The sharp increase comes in wake of a hike in the dollar value against the Pakistani rupee and the high policy rate. According to the new price list shared by the company, the price of the most selling unit CD70 has gone up by Rs7,400 and the two-wheeler will now cost Rs128,900. The price of the second most famous bike of the company, Honda CG 125, has been increased by Rs9,000, taking the rate to a record Rs194,900. Earn Free mone

KARACHI: The rupee touched another all-time low on Thursday and the central bank’s reserves fell close to a precariously low level of $3 billion as the country continues to reel from economic and political turmoil. According to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data, its reserves dropped 16 per cent to $3.09bn — barely enough to cover less than three weeks of imports — in the week ending Jan 27 due to external debt repayments. The reserves are at their lowest since February 2014 and can only cover 18 days’ worth of imports, the lowest the import cover has been since 1998, according to local investment firm Arif Habib Ltd (AHL). Reserves held by commercial banks stood at $5.65bn, taking the country’s total liquid reserves to $8.74bn, the SBP said. “The country is in dire need of fresh inflows and the resumption of the IMF programme as soon as possible to avoid the crisis,” Reuters quoted Tahir Abbas, head of research at AHL said, as saying.   The rupee continued to depreciate steeply in the interbank market on Friday, trading at Rs266.6 per dollar at 10:32am, down Rs11.17 or 4.58 per cent from yesterday’s close, according to data shared by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (Ecap). The local currency’s value  declined  Rs24.54 to a record low of Rs255.43 in the interbank yesterday, the largest single-day depreciation in both absolute and percentage terms since the new exchange rate system was introduced in 1999. Separately, the PKR was changing hands at Rs265 per dollar in the open market at the same time. This equates to a depreciation of Rs3, or 1.15pc, over yesterday’s rate of Rs262. The steep devaluation occurred after the government removed an unofficial cap on the USD-PKR exchange rate to revive the stalled International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan programme.
